School Infrastructure Development

This project focuses on building schools in the remote areas of Sundarbans where destitute children do not find a chance to study and or get drop out due to poverty. As years passed, the number of students increased, and presently 350 students are studying in this school. But the major problem was always the infrastructure.

Mathurakhanda Surendrasmriti Vidyaniketan in Amlamethi village, Gosaba, Sundarbans, is a school that was majorly formed for the dropouts from the surrounding villages.

Now

Due to scarcity of funds, the school was underdeveloped and few of the classrooms did not have partitions for separate rooms. At a later stage, it became a serious issue in conducting parallel classes at the same time.

Moreover, the kitchen area was a temporary structure made out of the mud and had a thatched roof, which was a cause of concern to the staff as they often faced problems while cooking mid-day meals for the students.

We inspected the school and its underdeveloped portions and decided to disburse funds for development. We have developed the walls and floors and created partitions for classrooms. The kitchen area was reconstructed and made ready for cooking.
